At The Greensboro Center for Pediatric Dentistry we strongly believe in supporting our community. We contribute to many local charities, local organizations, and most visibly The Greensboro Children's Museum and BackPack Beginnings.
Greensboro Children’s Museum
The Greensboro Center for Pediatric Dentistry has been supporting The Greensboro Children’s Museum (GCM) from the very first year they opened in 1999. The museum's mission is to engage all children and families in hands-on learning experiences which contribute to their growth and development through play, creation, outdoor exploration, and STEM experiences. Designed to inspire hands-on learning through play, the GCM offers a fun, energetic, and safe environment for children of all ages. The Greensboro Center for Pediatric Dentistry is the primary sponsor for GCM's main fundraiser, The Gala, on May 15, 2020. The evening continues to be a fun, relaxing way to showcase not only the successes of the museum but also some of the best bites and sips in town. Chefs, brewers, distillers, and vintners come from around the Piedmont to showcase their craft for a one of a kind night including live music and silent auction.
BackPack Beginnings
Childhood hunger and trauma expose children to risk of developmental, emotional, and educational delays that can last a lifetime. BackPack Beginnings is a 95% volunteer 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to delivering child-centric services to feed, comfort, and clothe children in need. They serve approximately 9,000 children experiencing hunger and trauma in our community. BackPack Beginnings serves children in need in 63 Guilford County Schools and 40 Child Assistance Organizations in Guilford, Forsyth and Alamance Counties. Their programs make a positive impact on the health and well-being of children in our community. Here at The Greensboro Center for Pediatric Dentistry, we know hunger is a huge issue in our community. In an effort to support BackPack Beginnings and the children nearby we volunteer the first and third Wednesdays of the month and deliver food to Jefferson Elementary School.
Dental Health Education
Each February, National Children's Dental Health Month, members of our engaging staff spend time at our schools educating, entertaining, and enlightening children about teeth, diet, home care, etc. For program or sponsorship requests, please contact Lauren Davis Gordon, Community Outreach Coordinator at (336) 292-0411 extension 1011 or email us at Community@GreensboroPediatricDentists.com.
